Valeos history in the USA started in 1980 with the creation of Valeo Auto industries Inc, based in Delaware to develop and sell Thermal Systems to major American automakers.

As the Group expanded, Valeo created joint ventures with Eaton, Osram Sylvania, and V. Johnson Enterprises, which highly developed Valeos leadership in North America. The Group also created a joint venture with Raytheon, which was eventually renamed Valeo Radar Systems and became a wholly owned subsidiary of Valeo.
